Ad Hoc / Temporary (Shift Cover Only) About the Role We are recruiting experienced Ad Hoc Support Workers to support 1618- year olds within semi-independent services across Essex. This is ad hoc work only, covering sickness, annual leaveand emergency/crisis situations. Shifts are offered by the on-call manager, so flexibility is essential. The young people supported present with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and often have complex needs, including: Mental health challenges
Self-harm behaviours
Substance misuse
Learning disabilities
History of offending
Asylum-seeking backgrounds
While the majority of placements are planned, the service also supports emergency referrals, so confidence working in high-pressure situations is important.

10:30pm + sleep-in

Key Requirements Experience working with 1618-year-olds in semi-independent, residentialor EBD services
Confidence supporting young people with complex emotional and mental health needs
Ability to work independently
Calm, resilientand professional approach during crisis situations
Flexibility to accept last-minute and emergency shifts
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
