Office is Hitchin Hours: Expected 40 hours on site per week Salary: As per agreed contract. Travel is paid door to door at single rate, and overtime is 1.5 times on hours over 40 on site per week.

We are a family owned and managed business that was started in 1982 and has always been working in the mechanical services industry. Our focus has changed over the years from heating to full HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) and from contracting to maintenance. We have always targeted the commercial market and covered a wide range of clients including office-based service companies, leisure centres, education centres, and healthcare centres. We have a team of employed AC engineers who carry out the maintenance and repair works. Some works, especially larger installations, are carried out by subcontract labour.
Target Market Our target market is the maintenance of air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration equipment for Building and Facility Managers working in the commercial market within London and home counties.
Brief overview of responsibilities You will be required to attend a variety of jobs that are all scheduled by our office team daily. We tend to plan ahead but leave gaps in the schedule for flexibility. You will get involved with call outs, planned maintenance jobs, and repair works. The mix and of the different types of jobs can vary and we always aim to balance skill set, site knowledge, logistics, and recent activity when scheduling work.
You have a responsibility to represent us on site which means you are very visible to not only our customers but colleagues and the general public, so upholding our professional values is very important in this role. This role also has the obvious responsibilities relating to your professional qualifications, so we expect these to be respected along with the other key responsibility of keeping safe. Following site specific RAMS and practicing H&S training that is provided is very important as part of this role.
Specific Responsibilities • Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance on a range of air conditioning and ventilation equipment including air handling units and their associated components. On AHUs, this will include the replacement of filters and drive belts as appropriate. • Identifying and reporting on potential equipment failures and issues. • Diagnosing the root cause of equipment failures and providing a solution for effective repair, including specifying the components needed. • Use manufacturer's software to assist in diagnosis of system faults, as appropriate. • Removing and replacing defective components, including carrying out any modifications to account for equipment upgrades. • Pressure testing refrigerant circuits with suspected leaks, tracing and repairing the leak, verifying the circuit integrity, evacuating the circuit and recharging the system with the correct quantity of refrigerant, including carrying out any calculations needed. • Programming and checking system control parameters to ensure efficient use. A minimum basic understanding of BMS systems is required. • Documenting assets and works carried out on our field management system (SimPRO) using a mobile device. • Communicating with customers on site at the beginning and end of a site visit, including any relevant updates during the visit. • Attending engineer update meetings and undergoing appropriate training as required. • Be part of the On Call rota to take responsibility for a fair share of the Out of Hours call outs.

Training We expect to provide training, including essential courses such as CSCS, IPAF, and PASMA, as well as proactive industry training delivered by equipment manufacturers. This is to ensure you remain up to date with industry standards and feel confident working on equipment out in the field.
Reviews In this role you will have quarterly reviews with your line manager which are for discussing a set agenda which focuses on personal development for the benefit of meeting your personal and business goals
