Approved Electrician – Water Utilities

Location: Thames Water & Southern Water regions (regular travel required) Full Time | Permanent Competitive Salary + Paid door to door+ Call-Out rota

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Approved Electrician to join a well-established Electrical & Mechanical Engineering contractor operating within the UK Water Utilities sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrician with strong industrial electrical installation and testing experience who is looking for long-term, secure work across water treatment and infrastructure projects throughout the Thames Water and Southern Water areas.

The Role

As an Approved Electrician, you will provide advanced electrical expertise across installation, maintenance, testing and commissioning of low voltage electrical systems and control panels. Working across multiple projects, you will support delivery teams while ensuring compliance with current BS7671 regulations and industry standards.

You will report into a Project Manager but may take ownership of smaller value projects depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

* Electrical installation works to BS7671 (18th Edition)

* Installation, service and repair of low voltage control systems

* Installation and commissioning of instrumentation systems (pressure, level, temperature and flow)

* Reading and interpreting electrical schematic drawings

* Fault finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting

* Carrying out Inspection & Testing (2391) including initial verification and periodic testing

* Ensuring compliance with NICEIC / ECA standards

* Providing clear technical documentation and reports

* Supporting site teams and liaising with clients and contractors

* Participating in a call-out rota covering reactive breakdowns

Essential Requirements

* Completed electrical apprenticeship

* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation

* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

* City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing

* ECS Gold Card

* Strong knowledge of industrial / commercial electrical systems

* Full UK driving licence

* Right to work in the UK

* Control panels and instrumentation

* IPAF / PASMA

* SSSTS

* CompEx
