Assistant Payroll Manager

London based with Hybrid working (2 days office)

Up to £65,000

Are you a practice-trained payroll professional looking to step into a pivotal role with flexibility and progression? We’re seeking an Assistant Payroll Manager to join a growing team where you’ll support the Payroll Manager in delivering accurate and timely payroll services for a portfolio of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients
• UK Payroll experience with some international would be ideal
• Review and approve payrolls prepared by junior staff
• Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and current payroll legislation
• Assist with onboarding new payroll clients
• Provide expert advice on payroll matters, including pensions, benefits, and statutory obligations
• Work closely with the Payroll Manager to improve internal processes and systems

What We’re Looking For:

• Must be practice-trained (experience within an accountancy or payroll bureau environment)
• Solid knowledge of UK payroll legislation and best practices
• Strong IT skills including Excel and payroll software (e.g., Sage, Xero, BrightPay)
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
