Job Description
A motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor with experience supporting the commercial delivery of construction and engineering projects. Skilled in subcontract management, cost control, valuations, and contract administration, with a strong understanding of commercial processes and the importance of maximising project value.\n\nConfident working within fast-paced project environments, liaising with both clients and subcontractors, and contributing to the successful financial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account.\n\nCore Competencies\n\n * Subcontract procurement & tender evaluation\n\n * Cost control & commercial reporting\n\n * Variations & change management\n\n * Valuations (internal & external)\n\n * Contract administration\n\n * Material take-offs\n\n * Supplier & subcontractor negotiations\n\n * Cash flow & cost forecasting\n\n * Commercial compliance & documentation\n\n * Stakeholder & client liaison\n\nProfessional Experience\n\nSupporting the commercial team across multiple projects, ensuring effective cost management, contractual compliance, and value optimisation throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Assisted in the preparation and issuing of subcontract tender packages in line with contract requirements and company procedures\n\n * Evaluated tender returns and supported the selection of subcontractors\n\n * Attended pre-contract and post-contract meetings with internal teams, clients, and supply chain partners\n\n * Produced and administered subcontract orders, ensuring accurate documentation and timely execution\n\n * Managed subcontractor accounts including valuations, re-measurement, and certification of payments\n\n * Supported the agreement of variations, including assessing impact, preparing documentation, and contributing to final accounts\n\n * Carried out material take-offs to support procurement and cost planning\n\n * Assisted in the preparation of weekly and monthly valuations for subcontractors and suppliers\n\nCommercial & Project Support\n\nContributed to the preparation of monthly cost reports in line with commercial reporting cycles\n\nAssisted with the submission of external valuations to clients\n\nSupported the production and issuing of client invoices\n\nReviewed subcontractor applications and assisted in issuing payment and pay less notices\n\nHelped manage project cash flow by monitoring costs and identifying value opportunities\n\nMaintained accurate and up-to-date commercial records and systems\n\nProcurement & Supply Chain\n\nSupported procurement activities ensuring timely ordering of materials and subcontract services\n\nMonitored procurement schedules to ensure key project milestones were achieved\n\nManaged on-site materials and coordinated with suppliers\n\nAssisted with negotiations on pricing and final accounts with subcontractors and suppliers\n\nStakeholder & Site Engagement\n\nAttended client and progress meetings, contributing to commercial updates\n\nMaintained strong working relationships with project teams, clients, and subcontractors\n\nSupported site teams with commercial guidance and documentation\n\nEnsured clear communication across all project stakeholders\n\nAdditional Responsibilities\n\nAssisted with pre-construction activities where required\n\nSupported general commercial administration across projects\n\nUndertook ad-hoc duties in line with project and business needs\n\nKey Attributes\n\nStrong attention to detail and commercial awareness\n\nProactive and organised approach to workload\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\n\nAbility to work both independently and as part of a team\n\nCommitted to delivering projects on time and within budget
