Our client, a notable organisation in the highways sector, is currently seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Birmingham. As part of the team, you will assist in managing commercial responsibilities to maximise profit and control costs.
Key Responsibilities:
Producing weekly and monthly cost-value reconciliations Capturing and allocating costs and liabilities Maintaining strong, long-term relationships with internal and external teams Managing opportunities and risks, identifying deviations from working practices Assisting in the development of commercial tenders, offers, and contracts Identifying and escalating inappropriate costs Recording and tracking insurance claims Maintaining accurate contract data and records Capturing and reporting direct labour payments; drafting and awarding sub-contracts Sharing best practices to drive continuous improvement
Job Requirements:
Our client is keen to hear from individuals who have a relevant degree in construction or commercial management, coupled with experience in subcontractor management. Strong commercial awareness and understanding of NEC3 forms of contract are essential, along with knowledge of relevant construction and contract law. The successful applicant will have excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and present commercial information clearly. Strong attention to detail and advanced Excel skills are further required. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn and develop their career in quantity surveying. You should be proactive in managing your workload, working collaboratively, and inspiring others to do the same. A full UK manual driving licence is needed, as you will primarily be based in Birmingham but may also need to visit other sites.
