Responsibilities / Position overview
We are seeking an experienced Health Economist with a background in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR)/Health Technology Assessment (HTA) to join our HEOR Research team at the Associate Director level.
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Leading and providing expert guidance into health economics aspects of projects
Conceptualizing and leading the development of cost-effectiveness and budget impact models
Critically appraising and quality controlling the design and implementation of models developed by others
Supporting development of economic strategy for reimbursement dossiers
Instructing, guiding and supporting the development of less experienced members of the team to complete tasks and have accountability for thehale quality of deliverables
Line managing a cohort of team members, supporting their wellbeing and managing their performance and career development
Working closely with other members of Research and wider HEOR teams
This role is external-facing, and you will be required to demonstrate professional excellence in client and other external stakeholder interactions.
This role can be tailored to an individual candidate’s strengths and aspirations, but will include a mix of roles and responsibilities, including collaboration internally and externally with experts in specific fields, economic modelling, writing (planning, reporting, manuscripts and submission documents), quality control, mentoring, training, line management, and additional responsibilities relating to operations, people, science and innovation or quality priorities for the HEOR Research team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the growth and evolution of the team and continuous improvement of HEOR capabilities within the business.
This opportunity offers flexible work setting options to suit individual needs. This can be fully remote with options to work in any of our offices as needed, if preferred.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic health economist that enjoys investigating new methods, supporting and coaching other health economists and broader HEOR researchers, and has the vision and flexibility approach required to contribute to the growth and evolution of the business.
A postgraduate qualification (MSc, PhD) in health economics or closely related topic
Several years of professional experience supporting various markets in planning, performing and reporting economic analyses within an HEOR consultancy, HTA agency, or pharmaceutical environment
Deep expertise in at least one major market (e.g., UK, US, Canada, EU) with working knowledge or willingness to quickly acquire knowledge of others
Hands on experience with various economic modelling methods and techniques; the capability to both conceptualize and develop de novo models and adapt existing models to new settings is essential
Experience with more complex methodology such as microsimulation, discrete event simulation, or dynamic transmission modelling is desirable
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and VBA, experience working in R is an advantage
Ability to take complex economic methods and approaches and relay these into practicable solutions for the wider Research team to meet our clients’ objectives
Excellent oral and written communication skills with a view to liaising with technical and non-technical clients (both internally and externally)
The ability to clearly communicate technical content to a non-technical audience is a key requirement of this role
Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team delivering technical expertise in HEOR topics beyond health economics e.g. statistics, иеvidence review and synthesis, value communications
Experience with mentoring and/or line management of staff
Proven ability to deliver projects to a high-quality within timelines, budget and scope
This role may require occasional travel, for example to attend client meetings in person or for conference attendance
