About the Role

A growing and forward-thinking Building Services Design Consultancy is looking for an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join their Birmingham office. Specialising in Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, and Building Physics design, the business delivers low-carbon, high-performance solutions across sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, and custodial projects.

This is a pivotal role in a newly established Birmingham team, offering the opportunity to lead major projects and manage engineering teams, all while being supported by an established national consultancy. You’ll take ownership of project delivery, oversee technical quality, and contribute to the growth and direction of a dynamic, sustainability-focused office.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage mechanical design delivery across multiple project sectors
• Oversee design standards, technical quality, and project coordination
• Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians
• Take ownership of client relationships and project outcomes
• Deliver innovative, sustainable mechanical building services solutions
• Collaborate closely with directors to support business development and office growth

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience in Mechanical Building Services Design
• Background in commercial, education, healthcare, or custodial projects
• Strong leadership and project management skills
• Experience managing teams and coordinating design delivery
• Proficient in AutoCAD (experience with Revit is a bonus)
• Full UK driving licence
• Chartered or working towards chartership (desirable)
