The School’s portfolio of research inquiry delves into every aspect of 21st century health and well‑being across nursing, community health, psychotherapy, and societal health innovations, to improve the health, inclusion, and well‑being for everyone in society. Role Profile The School of Nursing, Psychotherapy and Community Health is seeking to recruit exceptionally qualified candidates at the level of Associate Professor in General Nursing. The successful candidate will be recognised as a leader in their discipline, hold a reputation for academic excellence and have an extensive portfolio of internationally competitive research including high impact publications and funding successes. The appointee will be expected to provide leadership to the discipline of general nursing through active engagement in teaching and learning, research and scholarship, and administration in the School, Faculty and University. The appointee will be expected to make outstanding contributions to undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes through research‑led teaching, student mentoring and support, and supervision of student projects and research. The post holder will be expected to influence research and scholarship in nursing and contribute to advancing the school's research agenda, including building strong partnerships and collaborations with external health service providers. The post is based on the Glasnevin Campus and the candidate will report to the Head of School. Duties and Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not restricted to, the following: Teaching and Learning To contribute to the teaching and learning activity of the School by:

Coordinating and delivering modules in a manner consistent with the highest academic standards; Using a wide range of teaching and assessment methodologies which foster a deep approach to learning and which equip students with the skills and attributes needed to be lifelong learners; Working proactively to enhance and enrich existing modules and programmes; Contributing to the design and development of new modules and programmes; Providing research supervision for taught postgraduate students.

Research and Scholarship To contribute to the research agenda and profile of the School by:

Having clearly articulated research interests and research profile development plans; Publishing new ideas and findings in high impact international journals; Achieving measurable impact via citations; Generating research income to support research initiatives; Contributing to research activities such as conferences, seminars etc.; Attracting and supervising postgraduate research students; Contributing to the research culture and environment in the School and, where appropriate, working collaboratively on research initiatives.

Service and Contribution to the University and Society To contribute to the leadership, management and administration of the School by:

Contributing proactively to relevant School and University committees, working groups and meetings; Actively engaging in accreditation‑related activities; Delivering management and school roles to a high standard; Representing the School in activities such as marketing and student recruitment; Developing relationships with stakeholders within and outside the University; Engaging in external academic, enterprise, professional, public sector and community activities to enhance the reputation and impact of the School.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants will be qualified to a post‑graduate level and must have completed a PhD/Doctorate in General Nursing or a relevant health‑related field. Applicants must be registered or be eligible to register in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. Applicants must hold a minimum of three years’ relevant undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and learning experience at University level. Applicants will show substantial evidence of a well‑established and sustained research profile that demonstrates independence as a Principal Investigator. Applicants will have a demonstrated successful track record of attracting external peer‑reviewed competitively won national/international funding as a Principal Investigator. Applicants will have a substantial and sustained track record of first/senior author peer‑reviewed publications in high impact international journals in their research area. Applicants will demonstrate a sustained track record of research supervision and successful completion of PhDs (or equivalent doctoral degrees) and postdoctoral researchers. Applicants should also demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with evidence of successful teamwork and a collaborative and collegial approach. Applicants will show a demonstrable record of service and leadership capability to School, Faculty, University strategic objectives.

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following:

Registration, or eligibility to register on the Nurse Tutor’s Division with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or hold a recognised teaching and learning qualification. A track record in simulation based teaching and research in simulation.
