Principal Consultant at Hatched Recruitment

Home-based with national travel | £55,000–£75,000 + £7,000 car allowance + 10% bonus | Hybrid: 4 days on site, Friday WFH

Are you a senior gas engineering professional with a passion for compliance and technical assurance?

We're recruiting for a national-level role with a leading infrastructure and energy services business. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you’ll ensure the safe operation, compliance, and governance of gas systems across a diverse portfolio of sites and projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Acting as the SME for gas systems, DSEAR, FRA, and related compliance areas
• Managing Gas Safe registration, inspections, and quarterly audits
• Leading technical audits, incident investigations, and design risk reviews
• Supporting contract mobilisation, mentoring engineers, and assessing competence
• Driving improvements in engineering systems, safety culture, and risk management

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in gas compliance or as an Authorising Engineer in industrial, energy, or facilities environments
• Strong working knowledge of Gas Safe, DSEAR, and related safety legislation
• Confident leading audits and supporting technical and operational teams
• Willingness to travel nationally (typically 4 days on-site, Fridays WFH)
• Current ACS Gas Certification (including modules such as CGFE1, CIGA1, MET1/CMET1, BMP1, and TPCP1)
• Ideally, a relevant HNC/HND in Gas, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering
