The Ship is under new tenancy, and we are looking for an entrepreneurial, standards-driven Bar Manager to lead our day-to-day onsite operations. This is a unique "Live-In" position for a professional who wants a direct stake in the business they run. In addition to a competitive base salary and a rent-free home, you will receive

10% of the pubs total net annual profit , paid as a lump-sum bonus. The Heart of the House

While the Tenancy Holder manages the finances, marketing, and long-term strategy, you will be the "General" on the ground. Your mission is to ensure every customer experiences the highest level of service and the best-kept beer in the village. Your Responsibilities

You will be the guardian of our standards and the lead presence behind the bar. Your focus will be on the physical excellence of the pub: Cellar Management:

Full responsibility for cleaning lines, changing barrels, and maintaining a pristine cellar environment. Stock Control:

Responsible for maintaining bar gross profit (GP) margins through effective stock rotation, wastage control, and conducting monthly internal stock takes. Cash oversight:

Overseeing daily cashing-up procedures, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring 100% accuracy in cash handling and EPOS reporting. Pouring Perfection:

Training staff and personally ensuring every drink - from a crisp lager to a delicate real ale - is served perfectly. On-Site Standards:

Overseeing the cleanliness of the bar area, managing the floor during shifts, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. Team Leadership:

Leading by example to ensure the bar team is efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. Compliance & safety:

Ensure compliance with licensing law, responsible alcohol service, age verification, weight and measures requirements, and health and safety law. What We Are Looking For

Real Ale Expertise:

This is essential. You must understand the nuances of keeping and serving real ale to a high standard. Hands-on Experience:

You aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves, move barrels, and handle the technical side of a cellar. Reliability:

As the key person for deliveries and opening/closing, punctuality and trustworthiness are non-negotiable. Pride in Service:
