Bursar (Chief Finance and Operating Officer) (London)

Reporting to the Head Master and accountable to the Governing Body, the Bursar will be responsible for the effective leadership and management of the Schools finances, estates, operations, HR, compliance, and commercial activities. They will lead a large and diverse team of skilled and dedicated support staff to ensure excellence in delivery and operational and financial resilience. As a critical member of the Executive, they will play a vital role in shaping and executing the next phase of the Schools strategic development.
Candidates will bring a proven track record of executive leadership within complex organisations, with a blend of strategic insight, financial acumen, and operational delivery. An accounting qualification is not required, but the ability to lead with confidence across all commercial and support areas is crucial. Outstanding communication skills, resilience, emotional intelligence, and a collaborative, enabling leadership style are key requirements, as is the ability to lead large capital projects and drive innovation.
Prior experience in the education sector is not a prerequisite, and applications are encouraged from candidates with commercial, charitable, private-sector and public-sector backgrounds.
