Buyer | Hybrid | Lancashire


We’re recruiting a Buyer to join a fast-growing business in Lancashire that’s scaling at pace. This is a hybrid role with 3 days on-site and 2 days from home, alongside flexible hours to support work–life balance.


The business has achieved 400% growth since 2023/24 and has a new site pending, creating genuine opportunities for progression and development. The salary for this role is up to £38,000, depending on experience.


The Role


Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you’ll take ownership of supplier relationships, stock availability, and key commercial decisions across core product ranges.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead supplier negotiations to secure competitive pricing, rebates, and promotional support
  • Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships, ensuring early access to new products and innovation
  • Manage forecasting, ordering, and stock availability, targeting 97%+ availability
  • Monitor supplier performance using KPIs (OTIF, availability %, stock ageing) and present clear business cases
  • Proactively manage aged or slow-moving stock with creative, commercially sound solutions
  • Ensure all supplier and product documentation is accurate and compliant with regulations
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance to Buyers within the team to raise capability and consistency


About You


  • Significant buying experience within FMCG, retail, or distribution
  • Strong track record in supplier management and commercial negotiation
  • International buying experience is ideal — particularly sourcing from China, though we’re open to other regions
  • Commercially astute with the confidence to influence business-critical decisions
  • Analytical mindset with strong Excel skills and confidence using data and KPIs
  • Proven experience in forecasting and stock control
  • Clear, persuasive communicator with strong influencing skills
  • CIPS qualification desirable, but not essential
