Chef Manager - £15.82 per hour Are you seeking to make a real difference, positively impact a whole community, and be part of a successful catering operation and do all of that within social hours, week days only? Look no further. This role is based at Kingsbridge Community College (KCC), a thriving secondary school based in Kingsbridge, South Devon for which we are seeking an enthusiastic Chef Manager to lead a kitchen team serving approximately 1200 students aged 11-18 years. KCC is one of 15 schools which form the multi-academy trust Education South West (ESW). Reporting to the ESW Catering Manager, responsibilities will include the following, although this is not an exhaustive list and your responsibilities may vary from time to time, but will be commensurate with respect to overall area of responsibility. The Mission As part of the overall ESW catering team leadership you will provide the drive and energy to deliver the ESW operating standards and menu, designed to be fully compliance with school food standards, providing students with a wide choice of nutritionally balanced options, delivered via a slick service model which ensures a high volume of customers can be served in a short space of time. What will you be doing You will provide leadership, management and support of your team, ensuring the high quality of food preparation and a highly efficient kitchen operation, spread across 3 kitchens servicing the main under 16 population and the sixth form. Your customer centric approach will ensure that the customer experience is excellent, food service and presentation is of a high standard and that all students are catered for and treated with respect. You will provide continuous training and mentoring of your team, maximising their experience and honing their skills Managing efficient stock control and management, ordering and quality control of service and goods provided by suppliers Health and safety in the kitchen will be your priority, ensuring compliance with regulations at all times. From time to time you may be requested to support in other schools; and occasional evening school events may require your support with respect to the provision of hospitality. A degree of flexibility is expected, in line with the responsibility of running the catering operation for the school. Your experience and aptitude You will need to be a confident, articulate communicator with a customer-orientated approach, who is flexible and adaptable with the ability to multi-task and deal with multiple demands on your time. You will have proven experience of leading a kitchen team. Your humour and enthusiasm will engender a successful, tight-knit kitchen team. You are computer literate, and have an eye for managing detail and administrating an efficient kitchen, controlling and monitoring food production against prescribed menus. An advantage is that you have a number of years of experience working within a commercial environment. Food hygiene certification will be required; support can be provided to refresh/obtain this training. An advantage will be City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent; but excellent experience will not be discounted. You will be an adaptable person, able to think on your feet, and make day to day decisions to ensure you support the Kitchen Team. A Full Driving licence is preferred but not essential This job description is not a comprehensive definition of the post. Discussions will take place on a regular basis to clarify individual responsibilities within the general framework and character of the post as defined below. CONTRACT DETAILS Hourly rate £15.82. (NJC Contract E16) 37.5hours per week, 40 weeks per year coinciding with the term time plus 2 weeks. Hours of work 7am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.(Including 3O minute break) Eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) pension scheme for which we will contribute 22.9% on top of your salary.
