Location: Colchester, Essex, UK Pay Rate: £14.00 per hour Contract Type: Temporary Hours: 07:0014:30 Shifts: Ad hoc cover available Start Date: 3rd March
About Us: We are supporting schools across Colchester that require reliable temporary chefs to assist with day-to-day kitchen operations. This role offers flexible, ad hoc work in a structured and well-organised environment, ideal for experienced chefs who enjoy working in school settings.
Key Responsibilities: Preparing and cooking meals in line with recipe sheets Maintaining food quality and service standards Managing production to minimise wastage Maintaining food levels throughout service Ensuring high standards of hygiene and health & safety in line with Aramark requirements Recording food volumes and overproduction Supporting kitchen operations as required Assisting with opening and closing checklists Acting as a mentor for new team members where required Undertaking relevant training when needed Supporting occasional back or front of house duties in line with business needs
Requirements: Previous experience as a School Chef or similar role Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards Reliable, punctual, and professional Ability to work independently in a school kitchen environment Flexibility to accept ad hoc shifts Must wear long-sleeve chef jacket and non-slip shoes
