CHP Maintenance Engineer
Location: UK - Field based (Ideally South London/Kent area)
Travel: Nationwide travel with regular overnight stays
Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
The Role
We are looking for a CHP Maintenance Engineer to join a growing service team, working across the UK on a fleet of Combined Heat & Power (CHP) units ranging from 30kW to 500kW.
This is a field-based position combining planned servicing and reactive breakdown response, offering a great balance of independent working and strong technical support from the office team.
You will play a key role in ensuring CHP systems operate efficiently, safely, and reliably, while delivering a high level of service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and servicing on CHP units
Respond to breakdowns and fault finding as first responder on site
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
Produce detailed service and site reports, highlighting actions and improvements
Maintain regular communication with the service and technical support teams
Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and customers
Build strong relationships with customers and act as a brand ambassador
Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety standards, including RAMS
Support training activities for customers and internal teams where required
Protect company commercial and warranty interests
What You’ll Be Working On

BMS-integrated plant and equipment
About You
Essential Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a CHP, generator, or similar engineering role
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
Experience with LV power generation systems
Knowledge of control systems (e.g. ComAp)
Experience working with LTHW systems, pumps, and heating circuits
IT literate (Outlook, Excel, Word + diagnostic software)
Full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills
Experience with:
MWM engines
Control software such as:
Web Supervisor
InteliMonitor
LiteEdit
TEM / TPEM
Gas Safe qualification
Knowledge of BMS systems (Modbus, BACnet, Profibus)
Experience in building services / HVAC / boilers
CSCS card
IT / networking knowledge
Qualifications
Essential
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification
18th Edition (IEE Wiring Regulations)
Desirable
MWM training
Gas Safe certification
Personal Attributes

Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
Positive attitude with a strong sense of responsibility
Comfortable with high travel and overnight stays
