About the Firm

My client is a specialist legal practice with a strong reputation for handling a wide range of complex civil litigation matters. Their team represents both individuals and organisations and is known for managing medium to high-value disputes across multiple areas of contentious work, including professional negligence, property ownership issues, fiduciary disputes, and contractual claims.


They are seeking a Civil Litigation Solicitor to join their team. The role involves managing cases from initial instruction through to resolution, ensuring full compliance with court deadlines and civil procedure requirements. The successful candidate will handle negotiations, settlement discussions, and alternative dispute resolution processes, as well as participate in court hearings, case management conferences, and trials either providing representation directly or coordinating with counsel.


This position requires maintaining accurate case records through the firm’s case management system, liaising professionally with clients, courts, experts, and other legal representatives, and upholding all regulatory obligations, including those related to professional conduct. The role also includes assisting senior lawyers on major cases while independently managing an appropriate caseload. Opportunities to supervise trainees or paralegals may be available where appropriate.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Solicitor with an active practising certificate in England and Wales.
  • 2–4 years’ experience in a comparable role.
  • Post-qualification experience in civil litigation.
  • Knowledge or experience in areas such as professional negligence, contractual disputes, property ownership matters, or fiduciary disputes.


Key Skills and Competencies

  • Experience in civil litigation, including familiarity with the CPR and court processes.
  • Strong academic background and demonstrable legal knowledge.
  • Experience handling costs, billing, and cost assessments is desirable.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and drafting abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all written work.
  • Effective time management and organisation, with the ability to manage multiple matters concurrently.
  • Strong professional judgment and commitment to client confidentiality.
  • Confident client-facing skills and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Competency in handling new instructions and contributing to on boarding processes.
  • Business development and networking experience.
