Five Education is working with a special school based in Taunton to look for a Classroom Assistant. The school emphasises delivering educational experiences to develop young people's mental and physical wellbeing and to prepare pupils for adulthood. All the students that attend this school have an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) to support their SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of working with children and young people who have complex needs or display challenging behaviour. You will need to be compassionate, patient and be able to establish an excellent rapport with hard-to-reach pupils.

The role is term-time only and will start from September 2025. Full time candidates are preferred, but part time candidates with experience will be considered.

The Role

The role is primarily supporting a Year 2 boy with challenging behaviour in engagement and participation in class, but occasionally you will work in small groups or whole class support. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to create a positive and supportive learning environment conductive to the success of students.
