Contract Opportunity: Cloud Azure Governance Architect (6 Months) – Bournemouth (Hybrid, 3 Days On-Site)

My client are hiring for a Cloud Azure Governance Architect on a 6-month contract.

You will be involved in delivering strategic Azure cloud governance and architecture solutions. This hybrid role requires on-site presence in Bournemouth 3 days per week, offering an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of major Azure initiatives within a global financial services

This is an INSIDE IR35 role. The Day Rate has yet to be defined, but I think we're looking around the £725 P/D Mark.

About the Role:

As a Cloud Azure Governance Architect, you’ll be responsible for leading governance, architecture, and ownership processes across the Azure platform. This includes overseeing application owner (AO) and information owner (IO) communications, managing governance frameworks, and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and business objectives.

With the upcoming General Availability (GA) launch and critical platform release phases, you’ll play a vital role in managing the Permit to Operate process and supporting the broader cloud strategy.

Platform Management & Governance:

• Lead Azure platform governance activities, ensuring compliance with architecture frameworks and corporate standards.
• Manage and coordinate AO/IO responsibilities and communication.
• Validate architectural designs for availability, performance, and regulatory compliance.

Strategic Architecture & Integration:

• Provide architectural leadership across strategic Azure cloud initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate solutions within the JPMC environment.
• Manage increased workloads tied to the Permit to Operate process and Azure GA rollout.
• Design scalable processes for managing evolving infrastructure and compliance requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:

Technical Expertise:

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Azure services, architecture, and governance.
• Experience with platform management, engineering standards, and cloud compliance frameworks.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools.
• Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:

• Proven ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Skilled in managing and aligning AO/IO stakeholders and expectations.

Analytical & Strategic Thinking:

• Excellent problem-solving skills in architectural governance.
• Ability to develop and execute cloud strategies aligned with business goals.
• Strong project coordination skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Experience in fast-paced, highly regulated environments.
• Previous experience in a Cloud Governance Architect or similar Azure-centric role.
• Background in application ownership (AO) and information ownership (IO).
• Familiarity with Permit to Operate processes in enterprise environments.
• Experience in financial services or other regulated industries is a plus.
