Hybrid Role - Hertfordshire & Hotel Properties Salary: up to £65,000, dependent on experience Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cluster Hotel Financial Controller to oversee the finance operations of a couple of UK hotel properties . This is a hands-on, self-accounting role requiring regular travel between a central office location South Hertfordshire , and the Hotel sites. You will provide strong financial leadership, ensure consistent financial control across both properties, and manage on-site finance teams while working closely with hotel General Managers and senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities of the Cluster Hotel Financial Controller
Full responsibility for self-accounting across the properties
Preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts for each site and consolidated reporting
Ownership of month-end and year-end close processes
Cash flow forecasting, monitoring and management across both hotels
Budget preparation, re-forecasting and financial planning
Balance sheet reconciliations and control
Oversight of payroll processes and on-site finance teams
VAT returns and statutory compliance
Liaison with external auditors, accountants, banks and advisors
Provide commercial insight and financial support to General Managers and operational teams
Ensure consistent financial policies, procedures and controls across both properties
Develop, lead and mentor on-site finance teams
Regular on-site presence at both hotels to support operations and drive best practice
Essential Experience & Skills
Proven hotel finance experience in a Cluster Financial Controller role
Demonstrable self-accounting experience within a hotel environment
Strong technical knowledge of month-end, year-end and statutory reporting
Excellent cash flow management and forecasting skills
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to challenge and influence operational leaders
Experience managing and developing on-site finance teams
Willingness and ability to travel regularly between office and hotel locations
High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
Desirable
Fully or part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
Experience working in owner-managed, private or group hotel environments
Familiarity with hotel finance systems and PMS platforms
