On behalf of Rolls-Royce who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs we are looking for a CNC Machinist for a 12 month contract based in Solihull working on a double day shift pattern (weekly rotating early and late shifts). You will work as part of our Hydromechanical Bearings production team and play a critical role in the production of high-precision components for the Civil and Defence Aerospace businesses, ensuring components are of the highest standard, ensuring safety, customer quality and on time delivery following established working processes and quality procedures. You will report directly to the Production Leaders within the business. You will operate, maintain, and optimise advanced machining equipment to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
As a CNC Machinist you will be responsible for: Setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machining equipment (milling and turning). Interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications and working instructions to produce components to exact tolerances. Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, CMMs) to ensure compliance with the clients quality standards. Identify and help implement improvements to machining processes whilst collaborating with our Manufacturing Engineers to enhance productivity, reduce waste and improve component quality. Collaborate with engineering, machine maintenance teams and team leaders to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during production.
What we require from the candidate: NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline. Experience in manufacturing operations & production environment. CNC machining experience (milling and/or turning). Able to work to technical instructions and adhere to fixed process and quality standards. Confident in interpreting engineering drawings. Knowledge & experience of a wide range of inspection techniques.
