Circa £38,000 per annum (negotiable based on experience) Contract:
Permanent, Full-time role An established precision manufacturing business in Gloucestershire is seeking an accomplished CNC Turning professional to join its machining function. This opportunity would suit an engineer who is confident taking ownership of programs from first-off through to production, and who enjoys working with modern multi-axis turning and mill/turn equipment. Working within a collaborative engineering team, you will be responsible for producing complex, high-accuracy components to demanding tolerances, while maintaining quality, efficiency, and delivery targets.
Key Responsibilities inlcude:
Create, edit, and optimise CNC programs directly at the machine
Set up and operate CNC lathes and mill/turn centres with multi-axis capability
Work confidently with Fanuc and/or Mazatrol control systems
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and route cards
Select tooling, set offsets, and establish appropriate cutting parameters
Prove new and repeat jobs, resolving issues during first-off production
Maintain high standards of dimensional accuracy and surface finish
Carry out in-process inspection using manual measurement equipment
Experience & Skills Required inlcudes:
Strong background in CNC programming, setting, and operating (turning-focused)
Experience with Doosan or equivalent CNC turning platforms
Competence working across 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machinery
Proven ability to machine to close tolerances
Understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
Familiarity with CMM inspection techniques (advantageous, not essential)
Engineering qualification (City & Guilds or similar) preferred
Working Hours
You will be assigned to one of the following fixed shift patterns: Early Shift:
Monday to Friday, 06:00
14:00 or
Day Shift:
Monday to Thursday, 07:30
16:00, Friday 07:00
13:00
