As the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist, you will help strengthen and advance our safety and environmental compliance framework across NTT Global Data Centers. This is an exciting role for a seasoned EHS professional who thrives in fast‑paced, complex environments and is confident overseeing safety and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
You will play a key role in developing, implementing, and monitoring our corporate EHS programmes, ensuring our people, sites, and operations meet the highest standards of safety, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with project leadership, contractors, and internal stakeholders to champion a world‑class safety culture and embed best‑practice across construction and operational environments.
This is a UK based hybrid role offering some remote working and up to 75% travel across the UK and EMEA.
What will you do?
Provide a safe work environment for employees, clients, contractors, and subcontractors. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting Construction and work area assessments and the development and facilitation of appropriate training programs
Assess current safety programs for compliance and effectiveness, and to identify specific areas and means of improvement
Tracks incident metrics and applies findings
Initiate, performs, and documents jobsite inspections and audits with special emphasis on hazard recognition and identifying unsafe behaviors at construction sites with contractor’s onsite safety team
Conduct safety meetings and training programs to ensure the effective communication of company policy and safety standards
Facilitate safety committee meetings and related activities including the recording of minutes, corrective actions required, and action item documentation
Review job hazard assessments and recommend measures to control exposures, including substitution of less hazardous materials, use of PPE (personal protective equipment), work practice changes and engineering controls
Ensure injury reports are completed promptly and accurately. Conduct injury prevention meetings, recommends appropriate corrective actions, etc. in response to significant injuries
Work with NTT project leadership, Senior Manager Construction Safety, and General Contractors (GCs) to establish strategies for safe operations.
Review, assess and identify project trends while working with GCs to course correct gaps in the H&S programs
Conduct routine site audits and performance to plan audits to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
What are we looking for?
Significant experience as an Environmental Health and Safety professional, including strong experience supporting construction projects
Working knowledge of ISO 45001, 9001 and 14001. Knowledge of other EU directives would be a plus
Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal skills, and detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Professional and tactful with ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Certified Safety Professional NEBOSH or working towards Chartered IOSH
