Secondary schools across Bury and Bolton are seeking reliable, confident, and enthusiastic individuals to join their cover teams as Cover Supervisors. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy working with young people and are looking to gain valuable school‑based experience, whether on a full-time or flexible part‑time basis.

Role Overview

Cover Supervisors play a vital role in ensuring continuity of learning during teacher absences. You will supervise classes across a range of subjects, manage the classroom environment, and support students in completing pre-prepared work. This role offers an excellent pathway into teaching or other educational careers.

Key Responsibilities

Supervising classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students remain on task
Delivering pre-set lesson plans and maintaining a focused learning environment
Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
Supporting pupils with their learning as required
Ensuring a safe, calm, and positive classroom atmosphere
Travelling to different schools across Bury and Bolton depending on daily or weekly requirements

Candidate Requirements

Willingness and ability to travel to secondary schools in both Bury and Bolton
Strong communication and classroom-management skills
Confidence in working with students aged 11–16
A professional, adaptable, and positive attitude
Previous school or youth‑work experience is desirable but not essential, as training is provided
Ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals seeking flexible work within education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
