We are seeking an experienced Deputy Director of Engineering to join the Claridges Technical Services department. Moving discreetly through corridors and behind the scenes spaces, you will be addressing technical challenges with quiet expertise and anticipating needs before they arise. Whether restoring a delicate fixture, maintaining sophisticated systems, or responding gracefully to the unexpected, our Technical Services department serves as the hotels steady, unseen backbone. As Deputy Director of Engineering you will be responsible for: Operating the Technical services department together with the Director of Engineering and in their absence. Protect the Companys interests in the building, plant and equipment, ensuring the safety of guests, visitors and colleagues. Maintain the asset value of the property and enhance, refine and improve presentation and operating effectiveness to provide an exceptional guest and colleague experience. To ensure that the departments are correctly staffed and trained with a suitable team for their function, and to ensure that these team members can perform their duties to the standard required by the hotel and the company. Keep a close eye on costs for the department in line with budget Manage relationships with external contractors and suppliers Manage any planned CAPEX projects in line with the plan for the year. Ensure compliance of plant and equipment in line with UK health & safety regulations, ensuring all statutory inspections are completed within time and follow-up actions required as necessary. Ensure reactive maintenance system (KnowCross) is fully operational to limit downtime of bedrooms and services Successful candidates for our Deputy Director of Engineering opportunity will: Demonstrate genuine dedication to Claridges and show a commitment to consistent quality in our product and service Have experience working in a similar role within a hotel environment. Be a proven leader, adaptable and has exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Have extensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, plumbing, plant rooms and general building maintenance.
