New Today

Deputy Product Director Location: UK-based, remote (with occasional travel) Salary: £85,000-£110,000 (dependent on experience) Industry: EdTech About the Client Our client is a fast-growing, technology‑led SaaS organisation operating within a regulated, compliance‑critical environment. Their platform is central to customer onboarding, trust, and operational integrity — making it a business‑critical product with direct commercial impact. With strong executive backing and clear strategic direction, the business is now investing in senior product leadership to ensure one of its core product lines continues to scale, improve engagement and retention, and deliver sustained commercial value. This is an opportunity to step into a high‑visibility leadership role where accountability, clarity of thinking, and outcome ownership truly matter. How you'll spend your day This is an end-to-end product leadership role with full accountability for performance, not delivery management.
Own the overall trajectory and commercial performance of an established SaaS product line Set product strategy, define success metrics, and make clear investment and prioritisation decisions Lead through empowered Product Managers and Engineering Managers — creating clarity, not micromanaging execution Drive measurable improvements in adoption, engagement, retention, and long‑term customer value Ensure roadmap alignment with company strategy, regulatory requirements, and customer needs Guide teams to identify structural product issues, friction points, and growth constraints Balance short‑term optimisation with longer‑term platform evolution Act as the senior product voice in executive and customer‑facing discussions Resolve competing priorities across Compliance, Engineering, Commercial, Operations, and Customer Success Take operational accountability for product health, uptime, and incident response readiness Translate board‑level strategy into executable product direction and measurable outcomes Line manage and develop Product and Engineering Managers, building a high‑performance leadership layer
You will be judged on outcomes — engagement, retention, trust, stability, and commercial impact — not on how many ceremonies you attend or tickets you write. What you'll bring to this role We're looking for a decisive, commercially aware product leader who thrives on ownership and accountability.
Significant senior product leadership experience within a SaaS environment Proven ownership of an existing, live product or product line with clear commercial accountability Demonstrated impact on engagement, retention, and measurable business outcomes Experience leading through Product Managers and cross‑functional teams rather than acting as a hands‑on delivery lead Strong background in regulated, compliance‑heavy, or multi‑stakeholder environments Confidence making difficult trade‑offs and prioritisation decisions The ability to steer teams using data, insight, and clear performance metrics Direct line management experience of Product and/or Engineering Managers, including hiring, development, and performance management Experience executing company‑level strategic direction set by executive or board leadership Sufficient technical fluency to challenge architectural proposals, understand technical debt implications, and engage credibly with engineering leadership
Personally, you'll be:
Outcome‑focused and comfortable being accountable for results Clear and authoritative in stakeholder settings Comfortable stepping back from execution while remaining fully responsible Committed to product quality, trust, and long‑term sustainability
