Overview
I am working with a well-established main contractor delivering major education schemes across the UK. Due to a strong pipeline of education projects, they are seeking an experienced Design Manager with proven Department for Education (DfE) project experience to join their London-based team.

This role will play a key part in managing and coordinating the design process on DfE-funded schemes, ensuring compliance with all technical standards, guidance, and approval gateways.

Key Responsibilities
Manage the design process from pre-construction through to completion on DfE schemes
Coordinate consultants, architects, and subcontractors to ensure design compliance and programme alignment
Ensure all designs meet Department for Education technical standards, output specifications, and compliance requirements
Lead design workshops and chair design team meetings
Manage design risk, change control, and information flow
Work closely with project, commercial, and construction teams to deliver coordinated solutions
