Position Summary
The Director of AI Governance is responsible for ensuring global consistency of AI governance, privacy, and data governance while balancing local regulatory and business‑specific requirements. The role ensures compliance with evolving AI‑related regulations, drives operational efficiencies, and collaborates across technology, HR, legal, and data governance teams to design, implement, and operationalize robust AI risk management processes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of Cencora’s global AI, Privacy, and Responsible Data Governance Frameworks.
Design and evolve key components of the frameworks to meet new business challenges and regulatory needs.
Focus on the AI Governance Framework, ensuring its efficient management and continuous evolution throughout the AI lifecycle.
Partner with the data governance team to establish processes that ensure AI‑onboarded data is high quality, well‑documented, and respects data rights.
Foster a culture of Responsible AI Governance, educating stakeholders on its importance and best practices.
Align technology, HR, legal, and data governance teams around AI strategy and privacy requirements.
Lead and operationalize AI Centre of Excellence meetings, ensuring alignment on priorities and governance strategies.
Build and support new frameworks for data regulations and AI governance in partnership with legal and other stakeholders.
Develop and deliver tactical and operational plans, prioritizing high‑value activities while allocating resources and budget appropriately.
Advance enterprise‑driven value and risk management priorities to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
Leverage data insights to highlight best practices, identify efficiencies, and uncover improvement opportunities in AI governance and privacy practices.
Provide leadership to managers and professional staff, guiding and mentoring direct reports.
Coordinate complex activities across multiple work areas and oversee results, including cost, methods, and staffing.
Manage external vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure seamless integration of deliverables and compliance with organizational standards.
Identify and resolve operational challenges, providing strategic solutions to senior management regarding policies and processes.
Drive significant improvements to processes, systems, and practices that enhance overall performance and compliance in privacy and AI governance.
Experience and Educational Requirements
BA or BS in Business or a related field; an advanced degree (Master’s or Juris Doctor) preferred.
Extensive experience in privacy, data governance, or AI governance in healthcare or pharmaceutical environments.
Proven experience implementing governance frameworks and processes with demonstrated success.
Hands‑on experience using OneTrust or similar privacy management tools.
Track record of managing initiatives in a matrix organization and driving cross‑functional collaboration.
Experience working with multi‑national and/or global clients, providing guidance across multiple jurisdictions.
Solid working knowledge of federal, state, international, and industry privacy laws and regulations.
Law degree and/or certification as a privacy professional (IAPP, etc.) are preferred.
Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements
Deep knowledge of AI governance frameworks, privacy regulations, and data governance best practices.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements for AI and data privacy across multiple jurisdictions.
Strong interpersonal and professional skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in presenting complex concepts to senior stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage and mentor teams while driving results.
Ability to evaluate complex issues, develop innovative solutions, and implement effective processes.
Strategic mindset focused on operational efficiency and long‑term organizational goals.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced corporate environment.
Experience developing tactical and operational plans aligned with organizational objectives.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and, preferably, Smart Sheet and OneTrust.
Client‑focused with strong collaboration skills in an in‑house environment.
Comfortable working in a matrix organization with tolerance for ambiguity.

Work is largely sedentary with frequent computer use. Tasks include reaching, lifting, repetitive motions, speaking, and hearing. About 75% of time is spent looking at a computer.
