Role OverviewAn established building services consultancy is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join its Edinburgh office. The role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK, supporting senior engineers in the design and delivery of high-quality electrical building services solutions.You will contribute to electrical design from concept through to construction, working collaboratively with mechanical engineers, architects, and external stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in the design and development of electrical building services systems, including:Power distributionLighting and lighting controlsEmergency lightingSmall power and data systemsFire alarm and life safety systemsProduce technical calculations, reports, drawings, and specificationsSupport delivery of projects through all RIBA stagesEnsure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations (BS 7671, CIBSE, Building Regulations)Coordinate with internal and external design teamsAttend project and design team meetings as requiredSupport site inspections, surveys, and responses to contractor queriesContribute to continuous improvement of technical standards and processesSkills & ExperienceDegree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Building Services EngineeringTypically 25 years experience in electrical building services designWorking knowledge of UK building services standards and regulationsExperience using industry software such as:AutoCAD / RevitElectrical calculation tools (e.g. Amtech, Dialux, Relux or similar)Ability to work independently on defined tasks with support from senior engineersStrong communication and coordination skillsEnthusiastic, proactive approach to learning and professional developmentDesirableProgress toward or interest in Chartered Engineer (CEng or IEng) statusExperience across a range of sectors (commercial, residential, education, healthcare, etc.)Familiarity with sustainable design and low-carbon technologiesWhats on OfferCompetitive salary dependent on experienceHybrid and flexible working arrangementsStructured support toward professional accreditationExposure to varied and technically interesting projectsSupportive team environment with clear career progressionJBRP1_UKTJ
