Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Electrical / Multi-Skilled)​

About the Company Our client is a leading manufacturer operating a modern, high-volume production facility in Leeds, supplying high-quality products into a demanding market. With significant investment in automation and state-of-the-art production lines, they are focused on reliability, safety and continuous improvement across the site.​
The Role We are seeking an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer (ideally multi-skilled) to be a key technical point of contact on shift, supporting all areas of the factory. You’ll work across a range of automated production and packaging equipment, delivering both reactive and planned maintenance while driving continuous improvement in performance, reliability and safety. You will work closely with shift leaders, production and other engineers to maximise uptime, reduce waste and support a culture of preventative maintenance.​
Key Responsibilities
*
Provide fast and effective reactive maintenance support to the production operation, minimising downtime.​
*
Carry out planned and preventative maintenance, inspections and modifications on production and packaging lines (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic).​
*
Undertake fault finding and problem solving on plant and equipment, including PLC-controlled machinery.​
*
Implement engineering corrective actions to ensure safe product is produced in line with legislation and quality standards.​
*
Identify and implement improvements to reduce cost, waste and inefficiencies and improve line performance.​
*
Support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, efficiency, changeovers and reducing unplanned stoppages.​
*
Install and commission new equipment when required and support upgrades to existing machinery.​
*
Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with Health & Safety, quality and site standards.​
*
Work collaboratively with production teams, sharing knowledge and helping to develop technical skills on shift.​
Person Specification
*
Time-served apprenticeship and minimum NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.​
*
Strong electrical bias with experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.​
*
17th/ 18th Edition is desirable, but not essential.
*
Excellent fault-finding and repair skills, with exposure to PLC fault-finding (any programming experience advantageous).​
*
Experience of modern manufacturing techniques such as 5S, LEAN and TPM is desirable., but not essential.
*
Comfortable working to planned and preventative maintenance schedules in a continuous improvement environment.​
*
Strong mechanical comprehension with the ability to work on a variety of equipment and systems.​
*
Self-motivated, proactive and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.​
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work with colleagues at all levels.​
*
Good planning and organisational skills, able to prioritise your own workload effectively.​
*
Full UK driving licence and own transport.​
*
Awareness of Health & Safety and other relevant legislation; able to read technical drawings.​
