Job Title: Electronics Technician
Location: County Durham
Salary: Up to £40,000 (depending on experience)
We're looking for a skilled Electronics Technician to join a dynamic engineering environment, supporting the design, development, testing, and modification of electronic systems across a range of projects. This is a hands-on technical role where you will work closely with engineers and project teams to build, modify, test, and repair electronic hardware. About the Role
Support engineering teams in the development, testing, and modification of electronic systems and prototypes.
Assemble, populate, modify, and repair PCBs, including fine-pitch surface-mount components.
Carry out PCB rework and board modifications, including manual circuit changes where required.
Build and maintain prototype circuits, cables, devices, and test fixtures.
Perform testing and fault-finding of electronic circuits using standard laboratory equipment.
Assist with the design, build, and commissioning of electronic test rigs and demonstrators.
Maintain accurate build and modification records for prototypes and assemblies.
Assist with PCB layout tasks and component library management where required. About You
A recognised qualification in Electronics (HNC, HND, or equivalent).
3+ years’ experience working with electronic prototypes or development hardware.
Strong hands-on experience assembling and reworking PCBs, including surface-mount components.
Experience with fine-pitch soldering and board-level repair.
Good practical understanding of electronic circuits and systems.
Experience with testing and fault-finding using laboratory equipment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a busy engineering environment.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
Exposure to PCB layout or electronic design tools.
Familiarity with PCB design software such as Altium Designer (training can be provided). Please note, we cannot offer sponsorship for this position.
