About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Engineering Manager to lead a strong engineering team within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong leader with a background in FMCG or food production to play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement across the site.
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for managing the engineering team, driving maintenance strategy, and ensuring compliance with food safety and health & safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage, and develop the site engineering team (multi-skilled engineers and technicians)
* Develop and implement planned preventative maintenance (PPM) strategies
* Minimise downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production lines
* Manage engineering budgets and control costs effectively
* Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, and H&S regulations
* Oversee capital expenditure projects and site upgrades
* Liaise with production, quality, and senior leadership teams
What we are looking for:
* Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or Senior Engineering Supervisor within food manufacturing or FMCG
* Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
* Experience managing budgets and capital projects
* Understanding of food safety standards and regulatory compliance
* Demonstrable leadership and team development skills
* Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)
* Experience working in a high-volume production environment
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
