English Teacher – Secondary School (Rotherham)

Contract: Ongoing (Long-Term Sickness Cover)

Key Stages: KS3 & KS4

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a lovely and welcoming secondary school in Rotherham.

This is an ongoing position starting ASAP, covering long-term sickness, with the opportunity to make a real impact on students’ learning and progress.

The successful candidate will be teaching English across Key Stages 3 and 4, working within a supportive department and a well-led school with a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver engaging and effective English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students
Plan, prepare and assess lessons in line with the national curriculum
Mark work and provide constructive feedback to support student progress
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and achievement
Track and monitor student progress and adapt teaching accordingly
Work collaboratively with colleagues and the English department
Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4
Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English
Good classroom and behaviour management skills
Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
