Environmental & Sustainability Advisor
Location: Yorkshire OR East Midlands | Full-time | Rail & Infrastructure
Are you passionate about driving environmental excellence and sustainability in complex infrastructure environments? We’re looking for an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor to play a key role in shaping and delivering our environmental strategy across rail and non-rail operations.
In this role, you’ll lead on environmental compliance, continuous improvement, and sustainability initiatives—working closely with project teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure best practice and industry-leading standards.
What you’ll be doing
Developing and maintaining our Environmental Management System and sustainability procedures Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, ISO standards, and Network Rail requirements Supporting project teams to embed environmental best practice on site Managing audits, inspections, incident investigations, and waste management plans Maintaining accreditations and supplier pre-qualification portals (e.g. RISQS, CHAS, UVDB) Leading energy assessments and driving efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives Monitoring performance, managing non-conformances, and producing environmental reports Promoting positive environmental behaviours across the business
What we’re looking for
Degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline IEMA Practitioner membership (or working towards) Strong Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001 experience Internal Auditor qualification (ISO 14001) Experience in rail or infrastructure environments (PTS desirable) Confident communicator with strong reporting and stakeholder engagement skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Health & Safety qualification and IOSH membership desirable
