Estate Services plays a critical role in shaping residents everyday experience of Southern Housing. As the most visible frontline service,itsoften the primary way residents engage with us and judge the quality of our neighbourhoods.

Werenow recruiting to a newly created specialist role within our expanding East Sussex Estate Services team. This position holds full responsibility for leading bulk waste collection and waste management services across our estates, managing our Bulk Waste and Deep Clean teams to deliver a safe, compliant andresident focusedservice.

Basedfromour new Hastings office, this is a standout opportunity for a proactive leader to shape a growing service, work alongside established estate teams, and make a visible difference to the communities we serve.

From time to time, the post holder mightbe requiredto work from other company locations. On occasion you mightbe requiredto cover meetings outside core business hours.
This is a permanent,35hour per week contract.You will need a full clean UK driving licence for this role as you willbegiven access to a company vehicle.

Whatyoullbe doing
You will lead the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of bulk waste collection and waste management services across our estates, usingdata ledinsight to forecast demand,identifyhotspots and implement proactive interventions that prevent repeat issues.Youlloversee the effective, efficient andwell documenteddelivery of the Bulk Waste and Deep Clean teams, ensuring servicesremainflexible and responsive to changing estate needs while supporting wider estate managementobjectives. The role will also involve providing local management cover for Cleaning and Grounds Maintenance managers whenrequired.

Youllensure your teamsoperatesafely and compliantly, with all relevant risk assessments, health and safety training, lone workingarrangementsand PPE requirements in place, activelypromoting a strong safety culture at all times. Working closely with the Service Charge team,youllprovideaccurateservice delivery data to support transparency and full cost recovery.Youllrespond to enquiries from colleagues and residents, addressing issues promptly and communicating clearly, while carrying out regular estate inspections toidentifyservice issues, communal repairs, compliancehazardsor tenancy management concerns. Collaboration with other frontline teamswill be key to driving improved estate standards, better servicecoordinationand increased resident satisfaction.

Whatyoullneed

  • Demonstrable experience managing waste collection, bulk refuse, or environmental services within a front-line or housing-related setting.
  • Experience working in afront lineserviceenvironment, with a strong understanding of health and safety practices, including conducting risk assessments, adhering to COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations, managing lone working situations, and prioritising the safety of your team.
  • Working knowledge of residential service charges and the ability to contributeaccurateoperational data to support cost recovery and transparency.
  • Good IT skills, specifically Excel
  • Proven leadership skills, enabling you to recruit, manage, train, and motivate a team of staff effectively. You should have experience in fostering a positive work environment and promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • The ability to build andmaintainpositive relationships with residents,demonstratingstrong interpersonal skills and a customer-centric approach. This includes effectively addressing resident inquiries, concerns, and complaints, and working collaboratively to ensure their needs are met.
