Estimator

6 Days Old

Job Description

About the Role

Due to continued regional growth, we are seeking a proactive and hands-on Estimator to join our clients expanding pre-construction and commercial team. This is an excellent development opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in estimating while gaining exposure to asset management, maintenance pricing, refurbishment, and construction projects.

The role sits within a supportive team that is currently strengthening its capability in asset management and maintenance-focused estimating, and we are looking for someone with the right attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn. Full training and development will be provided, with the potential to progress into a more senior role over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of accurate and timely cost estimates for refurbishment, maintenance, and construction projects.
  • Assist with pricing for asset management, lifecycle works, and planned maintenance programmes.
  • Analyse project drawings, specifications, and documents to understand scope and risk.
  • Build cost schedules, BoQs, and tender submissions under guidance from senior team members.
  • Engage with supply chain partners to obtain quotations and assess value.
  • Maintain and build strong supplier and subcontractor relationships — particularly across the Midlands region.
  • Support the Senior Estimator in developing regional pricing frameworks and ensuring consistency in estimating processes.
  • Attend site visits and surveys where required.
  • Contribute to continual improvement of estimating tools, cost databases, and benchmarking.
  • Work collaboratively with project delivery, commercial, and asset management teams.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Some experience in construction, refurbishment, building maintenance, or a related discipline (could be site-based, commercial, or technical).
  • Numerate, analytical mindset with good attention to detail.
  • Enthusiastic, positive attitude with a genuine desire to learn and develop.
  • Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and technical information.
  • Ability to build relationships with suppliers and develop a strong Midlands network over time.
  • Willingness to travel to sites across Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, and surrounding areas when required.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting or delivering estimates, cost plans, or BoQs.
  • Exposure to asset management, lifecycle costing, or maintenance frameworks.
  • Understanding of refurbishment project workflows.
  • Existing relationships with subcontractors or supply chain partners in the Midlands.

What We’re Looking For

We’re open to candidates with different backgrounds — whether hands-on construction experience, early-stage estimating exposure, or maintenance/asset management knowledge. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who:

  • Is resilient, motivated, and eager to build a career in estimating.
  • Wants to grow into a specialist capable of supporting asset management and maintenance pricing work.
  • Values teamwork, communication, and continuous learning.

What We Offer

  • Full training and development in estimating and asset management.
  • Supportive team culture with opportunities for progression.
  • Exposure to both refurbishment and maintenance sectors.
  • Flexible working with autonomy and trust.
  • Competitive package aligned with experience.
