54 Days Old
Job Description
Experienced Veterinary Surgeon
Home Euthanasia & End-of-Life Care | Mobile Role
Hampshire | £24 per hour FTE + profit share
This isn’t just another vet job.
It’s a chance to slow down, practise with intention, and be there for clients when it matters most.
An established, independent veterinary service specialising exclusively in home euthanasia and end-of-life care is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their small, compassionate team. This is a rare opportunity to step away from the pressures of traditional practice and focus on calm, unrushed, deeply meaningful work — all within a non-corporate, quality-led environment.
Why This Role Is Different
Long, 1–2 hour appointments — no rushing, no conveyor belt
An average of just 4 visits per day
Entirely home-visit based, allowing pets to pass peacefully in familiar surroundings
A role centred on communication, empathy and client care, not clinical targets
Genuine work-life balance, flexibility, and emotional support from a close-knit team
The Practical Bits
Mobile role covering the local Hampshire area
Company car provided, based at a central business park hub
All current team members live within 10–20 minutes of the coverage area
Full UK driving licence essential
The Role
Full-time or part-time (minimum 24 hours per week)
Typical hours: 9am–6pm, with flexibility where possible
1 in 4 Saturdays (full visit day)
No Sundays, no Bank Holidays, no formal out-of-hours
Sole-charge role
Generous travel time built into the day
Focused solely on euthanasia and end-of-life support
About You
Ideally 5+ years’ UK veterinary experience
Confident working sole charge
Comfortable with cannulation
Calm, compassionate, emotionally intelligent
Excellent communication and bedside manner
Physically able to assist with lifting pets when needed
Open to a role focused on care and connection, rather than clinical progression
The Practice
Independent, boutique service founded in 2020
Intentionally small — plans to remain at 3–4 vets maximum
Outstanding local reputation with excellent client reviews
Approx. 50% referral-based work, remainder via word of mouth
Supported by experienced RVNs and care coordinators trained in end-of-life care
Quality-first ethos with time, space, and dignity at the heart of every visit
Culture & Environment
Relaxed, informal management style
Supportive, family-oriented team
Strong emphasis on work-life balance
Flexible approach to personal commitments
Open, approachable leadership with direct access to the owners
A genuinely different way of practising veterinary medicine
Benefits
£24 per hour FTE
Quarterly profit share: 2% of net profits (pro rata after 6 months)
5 weeks’ holiday + Bank Holidays (no BH working)
Pension: 3% employer / 5% employee
Sick pay: 4 weeks full pay post-probation, then 70% for up to 12 weeks

Informal, human flexibility built into the role
