Post Title: Children’s Residential Support Worker
*Reports to: Team Leader/Deputy/ Manager*
Job Purpose To be a member of a team of professional staff caring for children and young people. To implement and contribute to developing Care Plans for clients in the home, involving liaison with external agencies to assist and enhance the process.
Principal Accountabilities
* Act as Key-worker for our children and young people, developing and modifying agreed Placement Plans in consultation with appropriate agencies and professionals to ensure that the client’s physical, emotional and social well-being is being cared for. * Work with all children and young people within the home whilst carrying out Placement Plans to ensure that the young people’s physical, emotional and social well-being is cared for and feedback information to relevant individuals as appropriate. * To develop a sound knowledge of Children’s homes Regulations and provide services and support, individually or in groups, to facilitate the implementation of Placement Plans based on these. * Maintain effective administration records, including Reports, Reviews, Court Reports, Records of Appointments, Case Review Dates, Discharge Plans etc., that are kept within Company Policy and Procedure so that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and relevant. * Pursue appropriate staff development and training programs which enable the post holder to undertake their duties professionally following Company policies, including attendance at staff meetings and supervision. * Share in the everyday domestic work and activities of the home to ensure its adequate functioning, aiming to create a warm, safe and stable living environment for the young people, having due regard for Food and Hygiene legislation. * Take responsibility for the home in the absence of the Manager, Deputy Manager and Team Leader, dealing with the home's day-to-day operations but referring unusual matters and emergencies to a more Senior Member of staff.
The Job Description reflects the significant tasks to be carried out by the post holder and identifies a level of responsibility at which the post holder will be required to work. In the interests of effective working, the primary tasks may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changing needs and circumstances. Such reviews, and any consequential changes, will be carried out in consultation with the post holder.
Qualifications:
* Desirable - Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People's Workforce - Residential. * Must have an up-to-date DBS. * A minimum of 12 months of experience working in a children’s residential home. (Desirable)
