Location: Wilton, CT
Shift: Night Shift – Mon to Fri – 6:00 pm to 6:00am (2/2/3)
Employment: Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: Competitive, based on experience
Position Description:
We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance & Systems Specialist (FMSS) to support building operations, maintenance systems, and critical infrastructure in a high-performance industrial or manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring building systems, equipment, and utilities operate reliably, safely, and in alignment with customer and operational requirements.
The FMSS works closely with maintenance leadership and technicians to monitor building management systems (BMS), manage work orders through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and coordinate preventive and reactive maintenance activities. This position is ideal for a proactive facilities professional with strong technical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and a passion for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and manage Building Management Systems (BMS), including alarm acknowledgment, investigation, escalation, and reconciliation
Monitor and respond to Priority 1 and Priority 2 CMMS work orders, ensuring timely updates, troubleshooting, and communication
Schedule preventive maintenance (PM) and reactive work orders for assigned maintenance technicians
Perform building audits and generate work orders within the CMMS (Plan on or similar systems)
Communicate effectively with customers, site leadership, technicians, and vendors regarding equipment status and maintenance activities
Support equipment startup, commissioning, tuning, calibration, and system optimization
Monitor facility performance to ensure optimal operational standards are consistently met
Maintain working knowledge of critical building systems and utilities (mechanical, electrical, controls)
Participate in corrective action and root cause analysis activities
Complete detailed shift handoff documentation, including equipment status, downtime, open issues, and parts usage
Prepare reports and presentations using tools such as Plan on, Spotfire, PowerPoint, or similar platforms
Support flexible schedules, including weekends or non-standard shifts, as operational needs require
Perform additional duties as assigned to support team and site success
Required Skills / Education:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Additional technical training, undergraduate coursework, or business education
Experience:
3–5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, industrial, or manufacturing environments
Experience with BMS/controls systems, including commissioning, calibration, software integration, and system operation
Exposure to pneumatic controls and automated building systems
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
Proficiency with CMMS platforms (Planon ) and digital communication tools
Experience using hand tools and small power tools
Commissioning tools and field circuit debugging skills
Ability to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, or aerial lifts ()
Comfortable working with computers, tablets, and mobile devices
Certifications & Licenses:
Valid driver’s license required
Technical or maintenance certifications are a plus
Core Competencies:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Proven track record of completing work orders efficiently with high-quality results
Customer-focused mindset with excellent communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
