Job Description
Field Service Engineer (Batteries)\n\nGreater Manchester / Cheshire\n\n£27,000 - £31,000 + Van\n\nSeymour John is supporting an international battery supplier to the Manual Handling Equipment (MHE) sector who seek to recruit a field-based engineer covering the Greater Manchester and Cheshire region. In this role you will report to a Team Leader and work as one of a team of twelve nationally based engineers.\n\nThe role:\n\nDiagnosis and Repair: Identifying and fixing faults for lead-acid batteries.\n\nComponent Replacement: Replacing critical components like battery plugs, leads, and connectors to prevent safety hazards such as thermal events or acid leaks.\n\nMaintenance: Performing scheduled inspections and maintenance to extend battery life and prevent unexpected failures. Topping and Cleaning batteries.\n\nTechnical Support: Providing customer support and potentially training on proper battery care, and safety protocols.\n\nDocumentation: Producing accurate service reports.\n\nExperience:\n\nIt is ESSENTIAL that you have previous experience in a similar role working with lead acid / lithium batteries ideally for use within the MHE and FLT sectors.\n\nCertifications: Relevant mechanical or electrical engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds).\n\nLogistics: A full UK driving license is typically required, as the role involves travelling to customer sites.\n\nSoft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking skills.\n\n * The role will be home based, and the candidate must be able to work on their own initiative\n\n * This is not a Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, role and candidates must be prepared to be flexible with working hours and very occasional overnight stay away from home.\n\n * On call cover (Evenings & Weekends) on a rotational basis\n\n * A company vehicle (Ford Transit) and mobile phone are provided\n\nBenefits:\n\n * On call cover (evenings & weekends) on a rotational basis\n\n * A company vehicle and mobile phone are provided\n\n * 5% pension matched at 5% (The People’s Pension) salary sacrifice is available.\n\n * Holiday = 25 days plus Bank Holidays\n\n * Van provided – Ford Transit\n\n * Salary is £27k - £31k.\n\n * Overtime paid at x1 for 2 hours over per day then over 2 hours is x1.5.
