Profile:
An opportunity to join a global OEM with multiple business units across the UK, offering excellent support and top-quality technical backup. You will work with a talented team of engineers and technicians, supervise subcontractors, and liaise directly with clients at site level. Your role will contribute to the strategy and growth of Transformer Service by delivering high-quality, cost-effective projects and solutions in line with our standards, quality, and safety guidelines. A focus on providing excellent customer service and identifying new business opportunities is essential.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and undertake service activities on site, ensuring health and safety, quality standards, and schedules are met to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Handle transformer service activities including installation, commissioning, refurbishments, device replacements, routine maintenance, inspections, and problem identification to support analysis and recommendations.
- Manage all delivered parts, materials, and components for each project, optimizing resources to meet delivery and performance targets. Lead jobs from start to finish under the project manager's guidance, aligning with client requirements.
- Maintain project site documentation, prepare reports, and resolve on-site issues. Provide feedback for identifying and recommending new solutions to meet business and customer needs.
- Apply all safety rules, follow safe practices, and consider environmental responsibilities. Assess hazards and implement actions to ensure safety of personnel and equipment.
- Contribute to operational excellence and strive to deliver the best customer service in the industry.
Ideal Background:
- Engineering-related HNC (electrical preferred), apprenticeship, or relevant industry experience.
- Experience in the power sector (installation, service, maintenance) and knowledge of power plant equipment such as transformers. Desirable experience includes:
- Mechanical installations
- Switchgear
- Leading teams or managing subcontractors
- Cabling/wiring installation
- Oil handling, processing, sampling
- Device function checks
- Use of power testing instruments like Omicron, Megger, etc.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Relevant qualifications such as IPAF, PASMA, CCNSG; training will be provided.
- Proficient in relevant software and computer literate.
- Full driving license.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Must be able to work independently, be a team player, and communicate effectively. Flexibility in working hours is required due to travel and short-notice assignments. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a systematic approach are essential for learning and development.
