Job Description

Finance Manager (12-month FTC)

Real Estate Development | Farnborough

£45,000 – £50,000 | 4 or 5 days per week considered

Some finance roles are about maintaining what already exists.

This one is about helping build something properly from the ground up.

A growing real estate development business is looking to hire a Finance Manager to support its next phase of growth. The business works on multi-unit development projects and is expanding its operational footprint over the next 12–18 months.

The opportunity

This is a broad, hands-on role where you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function while helping shape how it evolves as the business scales.

The finance setup is still relatively lean, which gives you genuine visibility across the business and the chance to influence how things are done.

The company has already invested in modern systems and is building a digitally led finance environment, with integrated tools supporting sales, operations and finance. If you enjoy improving processes, connecting systems and reducing manual work, this will appeal.

Why the role exists

The business is moving from an early-stage setup into a more structured growth phase.

Historically supported by fractional finance resource, the company is now at the point where it needs a dedicated Finance Manager to:

• Strengthen financial control

• Improve project-level visibility

• Support day-to-day finance operations

• Continue developing scalable processes and systems

This role is about creating a strong financial foundation before the business increases in complexity.

What you will be doing

This is a true all-round Finance Manager role with exposure across operations and reporting.

You will be responsible for:

• Running day-to-day finance operations

• Managing project-level financial tracking across developments

• Producing monthly management accounts (P&L and balance sheet)

• Maintaining financial controls and expense oversight

• Supporting project costing and margin visibility

• Managing purchase orders, invoicing and supplier payments

• Monitoring cash flow and short-term forecasting

• Supporting VAT and relevant industry-specific compliance

• Improving systems, processes and automation across finance

The business operates across multiple projects at different stages, so maintaining clarity across costs, revenue and timing is a key part of the role.

Working environment

The role is based in Farnborough, within a well-established business park environment offering:

• On-site parking

• Café and shared facilities

• Meeting spaces

• Gym access

The team is growing, and there is a strong sense of collaboration in the office.

You will typically be in the office around three days per week, with some flexibility depending on schedules.

Driving distance is strongly preferred given the location.

Culture and team

This is a small, growing business where people are hired for attitude as much as experience.

The leadership team is approachable, and the environment is open and collaborative rather than hierarchical.

You will suit this role if you:

• Enjoy working in a growing SME environment

• Are comfortable taking ownership without heavy structure

• Like improving processes and systems

• Are confident communicating and contributing ideas

The contract and future potential

This role is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The reason is that the business is evolving quickly, and the structure of the finance team will develop over time.

There is a clear expectation that finance capability will grow alongside the business. For the right person, there is a strong likelihood of a longer-term opportunity, although the exact shape of the role will depend on how the business evolves.

Salary and working pattern

£45,000 – £50,000 depending on experience

• Full-time (5 days per week)

• Or part-time (4 days per week, pro-rated)

There is flexibility around how those hours are structured.

Ideal background

Candidates are likely to come from:

• SME or growing businesses

• Real estate, construction or project-based environments (preferred but not essential)

• Hands-on finance roles covering management accounts and operations

Experience with Xero is essential.

Final note

This is a role for someone who enjoys being close to the detail but also wants to help build something properly.

If you are interested in working within real estate development, or simply want to understand more about the business and the opportunity, it is worth a conversation.
