Reporting to: Financial Reporting and Management Lead
Key Responsibilities:
The Financial Accountant will take responsibility for managing the delivery of efficient controls and processes across finance operations. The day-to-day responsibilities will include establishing best practice, process improvements and embedding strong controls. The role will report to the Financial Reporting and Management Lead.
- You will be responsible for month-end closing, prepare manual double entries when needed.
- You will also be charged with preparing Month-end, Quarter-end and Year-end financial statements based on UKGAAP, IFRS 4 and IFRS 17, including financial reports for our holding company and management, analytical analysis and commentary.
- Prepare bank reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Contribute to the planning of annual audit, prepare the statutory accounts, and handle the queries from auditors
- Contribute to the planning of annual budget, forecast, prepare budget report for the holding company.
- Prepare the cashflow forecasts and liquidity analysis, participate to cashflow and liquidity management.
- Responsible for preparation of the monthly investment reconciliation and investment reports;
- Assist in the IFRS 17 system implementation.
- Assist the review of expenditure applications, and cross check with the budget utilisation.
- Prepare and complete Corporation Tax and other tax matters as requested
- Preparation of Solvency II QRT quarterly and other regulatory reports
- Assist on the development and documentation of department procedures and policies.
- Support to implement system enhancement and migration projects. Co-ordinate with IT to maintain the financial accounting systems to ensure the settings are updated and accurate. Contribute to the improvement and development on the financial systems.
- To support the Finance Department on tasks across finance operations to deliver efficient and effective outcomes
- Deliver ad hoc report requested by the management and the holding company.
Requirements:
Essential -
- 5+ years’ experience in accounting role, previously worked within the Insurance industry is preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree.
- Qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA) or equivalent; partly qualified or less experience will be considered as Assistant Financial Accountant.
- Have awareness of control environments within financial systems and ability to address weakness.
Preferred -
- Experience in owning the business model and running financial planning activities including annual budget and re-forecasts.
