Contract: Full-time (37 hrs) | Temporary (6–9 months- potential to be extended further) | Hybrid & part-time options available
Location: West Midlands
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Financial Controller for a further education college based in the west midlands to provide strategic and operational financial leadership across the College and its associated entities. This pivotal role will ensure robust financial planning, effective management of operations, and compliance with regulatory standards — all while driving continuous improvement in systems, controls, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead on financial reporting, year-end accounts, and audit preparation.

Manage cashflow, VAT returns, asset registers, and procurement processes.
*
Support budget managers and improve financial systems.
*
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
About You:
*
Fully or part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA) or equivalent experience.
*
Strong background in accounting, reporting, and systems management.
*
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and collaborative working style.
*
Sector experience in FE is desirable but not essential.
