Interim Group Financial Controller

We’re seeking an Interim Group Financial Controller to lead group reporting, governance, and controls across a complex, multi-entity environment. This is a high-impact role with strong Board exposure, focused on stabilising, improving, and modernising the finance function.
You’ll oversee consolidation and statutory reporting, ensure robust financial control, and partner closely with senior finance and operational teams. Alongside maintaining rigour and compliance, you’ll drive process improvements, system optimisation, and increased use of automation.
What you’ll do
Lead and develop the central finance team, driving high performance, strong controls, and continuous improvement
Own Group month end close and consolidated reporting
Oversee statutory accounts, technical papers, and balance sheet integrity
Maintain and embed Group financial controls and improve reporting efficiency
Manage external audit and tax adviser relationships
Oversee statutory audits, tax submissions, and regulatory compliance across all entities
Partner with Group Finance Director, FP&A, and operational finance teams to support strategic decisions
Provide insight on performance, cost drivers, working capital, and payroll trends
Lead working capital forecasting and optimisation
Produce balance sheet forecasts, identifying risks, opportunities, and required actions
Deliver key initiatives including legal entity simplification, transfer pricing improvements, and finance process optimisation
What you’ll bring
Proven experience as a Group Financial Controller or senior finance leader within a complex, multi-entity or PE backed organisation
ACA or ACCA qualification (preferred) with strong technical accounting expertise
Experience working confidently with executive and board level stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to lead high performing teams
Deep knowledge of group consolidation, audit processes, statutory reporting and controls
Strong understanding of working capital dynamics and balance sheet optimisation
Experience improving processes, implementing systems, and leveraging technology to increase efficiency
