As the embedded hiring partner to a long-established and profitable family-owned SME, we are supporting the appointment of a Finance Director during a period of generational handover. The business has operated successfully for many years and is now led by the next generation. It has strong operational foundations, established supplier relationships and a loyal customer base. The next phase requires sharper financial visibility, disciplined working capital management and a finance function structured to support continued growth. The Role You will take full responsibility for the finance function and operate as a key member of the senior leadership team. This is a commercially active role within a product-led environment where margin, stock and cash control are central to performance. Your focus will include:
Ownership of budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management Strengthening financial reporting and governance processes Managing working capital and inventory control Improving margin visibility across product and revenue lines Supporting pricing and commercial decision-making Leading and developing the internal finance team Providing clear financial insight to support expansion plans
Reporting capability is assumed. The priority is improving forward visibility, protecting cash and ensuring the business scales with financial discipline. About You You are a qualified accountant with experience operating at Finance Director level within an SME, or a senior Financial Controller ready to step into full leadership. You will bring:
Experience in a product-led or operationally active business Strong understanding of working capital and stock dynamics Commercial judgement within a margin-driven environment Confidence operating within an owner-led or family business
You are comfortable balancing operational detail with board-level responsibility.
