The Role As a French & Spanish ECT, you will teach both languages across KS3, delivering well-sequenced, communicative lessons that build confidence, accuracy, and genuine enthusiasm for language learning. You will track pupil progress through regular formative and summative assessment, contribute to departmental planning and resource development, and play an active role in cultural enrichment activities that extend learning beyond the classroom. Building positive, encouraging relationships with pupils and their families will be central to your identity as a French & Spanish ECT in this school. What the School is Looking For This permanent French & Spanish ECT role will suit candidates who: Hold QTS or are in the final stages of a UK-recognised initial teacher training programme Have graduated with a 2:1 or above in Modern Languages or a related discipline, ideally from a Russell Group or similarly well-regarded university Can demonstrate classroom experience in a UK secondary school setting through timetabled placements or an ECT year Show a clear ability to plan structured, progressive lessons and evidence measurable improvement in pupil language skills Are confident managing a classroom within an established whole-school behaviour framework Hold full legal entitlement to work in the UK - visa sponsorship is not available through this school
This role is open to candidates who have completed or are completing formal UK teacher training only. Salary & Contract Outer London MPS: £37,870 to £50,474. Salary on appointment will reflect ECT status, with incremental progression as induction is successfully completed.
