Oxfordshire Tythe is a family-owned business founded in 1998 and set on the working farm of the Deeley family. At the heart of the venue is our beautiful 14th-century thatched barn, which provides a spectacular setting for more than 100 private events and weddings each year. Over the past two decades, The Tythe Barn has established itself as one of the UKs leading wedding venues, recognised for exceptional service, beautiful surroundings and a truly memorable guest experience. The venue hosts more than 100 weddings and private events each year and continues to grow its reputation as one of the countrys most sought-after countryside venues. The venue comprises several event spaces accommodating up to 230 guests, alongside the stunning Farmhouse which provides accommodation for up to 16 guests. As the business continues to evolve, we are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the venue and work closely with the owners to drive the next stage of growth and excellence. The Role The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the business, ensuring the venue continues to deliver exceptional weddings and events while maintaining the high standards and reputation for which The Tythe Barn is known. The General Manager reports directly to the owners and works closely with them on the strategic direction and development of the business. Working closely with the owners, the successful candidate will oversee operations, financial performance, sales growth, team leadership and the strategic development of the venue and on-site accommodation. This is a senior leadership role requiring a confident and commercially minded individual who is comfortable taking responsibility for the successful day-to-day running of a busy and highly regarded events and accommodation business. Key Responsibilities Leading the overall day-to-day operation of the events venue and on-site accommodation Delivering exceptional standards across all events and guest experiences Working closely with the owners to support the strategic direction of the business P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting and cost control Leading, managing and developing a dedicated team across events, sales, operations and guest services Overseeing recruitment, training and staff development Driving sales performance and supporting the marketing strategy Maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers and partners Ensuring all health & safety and fire safety compliance is maintained Overseeing the presentation and upkeep of the venue and accommodation to ensure exceptional standards at all times Supporting the sales process where required, including hosting venue show rounds The Candidate This role would suit a confident and experienced hospitality or venue professional who thrives in a leadership role and takes pride in delivering exceptional guest experiences. You will be capable of motivating and leading a team while maintaining a calm and organised approach in a fast-paced events environment. This position is best suited to candidates who have previously held senior operational responsibility within a premium hospitality, events or venue-with-accommodation environment. Skills & Experience Significant experience within the hospitality, weddings or events sector Previous senior management or leadership experience within a venue or hospitality business Strong operational understanding of weddings, private events and accommodation provision Proven ability to manage budgets and commercial performance Excellent organisational and communication skills A calm and professional approach in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and a commitment to exceptional service Full UK driving licence Working Pattern This role requires flexibility and occasional weekend work.
