Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire, Yorkshire, UKA well-established, engineering-led business operating within the standby power and critical power sector is seeking a Generator Engineer to join its service and support team. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality generator solutions across the UK, the business continues to invest in its engineers, internal progression, and long-term staff development. This is a home-based, field service role, ideal for an engineer with strong mechanical and electrical knowledge who enjoys working independently while delivering excellent customer service.Responsibilities:Travel to customer sites across the UK to carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of generator brandsPerform planned and reactive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, inspections, and performance testingCarry out diagnostics, fault finding, and rectification of mechanical and electrical generator faultsUndertake installation and commissioning of generator systems, both portable and fixedComplete load bank testing, performance verification, and post-installation testingDiagnose and repair alternators, batteries, control panels, wiring, ATS, and associated power systemsMaintain accurate and detailed service reports, documenting work completed and parts usedCommunicate clearly with customers, explaining faults, solutions, and operational guidanceParticipate in an on-call rota and respond to emergency breakdowns where requiredEnsure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations, including risk assessments and PPE useRepresent the business professionally on-site, acting as a brand ambassador at all timesRequirements:Proven experience in generator servicing, maintenance, installation, or commissioningStrong mechanical and electrical fault-finding capabilityUnderstanding of load balancing, power distribution, and control systemsExperience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and engine diagnostic softwareAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while managing workload effectivelyStrong customer-facing and communication skillsWillingness to travel nationwide, including occasional nights awayQualifications:HNC / HND / NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)Relevant industry training and certificationsGenerator Engineer Benefits:Competitve salaryHome-based role with travel to customer sitesPaid overtime and on-call allowancesStrong focus on employee wellbeing, including access to health and support resourcesOpportunities for internal progression and long-term career developmentSupportive, people-focused culture with high staff retentionRegular company events and team engagement activitiesIf youre an experienced Generator Engineer looking for a field-based role within a stable and supportive power generation business, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your career.
