GIS Architect/Specialist

This is a 6 month remote contract - Outside IR35.
Our client, a leading consultancy, is currently looking for a GIS Architect/Specialist who will be responsible for creating an ESRI based Enterprise GIS Platform and implementing geospatial solutions.This will require a strong background in GIS technologies, enterprise architecture principles, and project management.
What you will be expected to do:
Develop and maintain the overall GIS architecture framework, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and technology standards
Design scalable and robust geospatial solutions that integrate with existing enterprise systems
Work closely with business units, IT teams, and external partners to gather requirements and understand geospatial needs
Assess and recommend technologies, tools, and platforms that meet the organisation's needs
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in GIS and enterprise architecture
Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables
Create and maintain architectural documentation, including diagrams, standards, and guidelines for GIS solutions
Work with teams to establish best practices for data management, integration, and Security within the GIS environment
Work within governance and compliance requirements of the client
The skills you need:
Good stakeholder management and influencing skills at project stakeholder level
Good written and verbal communication skills
Detailed technical knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS
Degree-level qualification in relevant subject desirable
Software development and/or support experience at an enterprise level.
Familiarity with software development life cycle management techniques with experience in product and vendor evaluation and technology roll-out
Knowledge of solution architectures including applying standard architectures and patterns within solution designs and various hosting environments/platforms
Proven experience as a GIS Architect or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles.
Proficiency in GIS software and tools and geospatial data management.
Experience with cloud-based GIS solutions and data integration techniques.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Relevant certifications (eg, TOGAF, etc.) are a distinct advantage.
